I went around to the place, with my resume and photos of things I had made and got an interview straight away. The next day I got a phone call to say I got the job.

My advice is do something exotic and daunting as early in your career as possible - it pushes you right out of your comfort zone and it's a great story to tell at interviews.

Having grown up on a farm, it seemed a natural path for my first job to be on a station as a Jillaroo, so when offered the opportunity by a friend to join a station in WA, I jumped at it, along with one of my best friends.
